Equal Opportunities & Diversity Policy

1. Policy Statement

Vensa Technology is committed to promoting equality of opportunity for all staff and job applicants. We aim to create a working environment in which all individuals are able to make best use of their skills, free from discrimination or harassment, and in which all decisions are based on merit.

We do not discriminate against staff or candidates on the basis of age, disability, gender reassignment, marital or civil partner status, pregnancy or maternity, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation (collectively known as "Protected Characteristics").

2. Scope of Policy

This policy applies to all aspects of our relationship with staff and candidates, including:

  • Job advertisements and recruitment processes.
  • Terms and conditions of employment.
  • Opportunities for promotion, training, or transfer.
  • Grievance and disciplinary procedures.

3. Our Responsibilities as a Recruiter

As a recruitment agency, we have a unique role in ensuring diversity in the UK workforce. We commit to:

  • Neutral Job Postings: Ensuring all job adverts are non-discriminatory and use inclusive language.
  • Objective Vetting: Screening candidates based solely on their qualifications, skills, and experience.
  • Diverse Shortlisting: Actively encouraging applications from under-represented groups to provide our clients with a diverse range of talent.
  • Reasonable Adjustments: Making necessary arrangements for candidates with disabilities during the interview and application process.

4. Forms of Discrimination

We strictly prohibit all forms of discrimination, including:

  • Direct Discrimination: Treating someone less favourably because of a protected characteristic.
  • Indirect Discrimination: Applying a rule or practice that disadvantages a particular group without a valid business justification.
  • Harassment: Unwanted conduct related to a protected characteristic that violates dignity or creates an intimidating environment.
  • Victimisation: Retaliation against someone who has complained or supported a complaint of discrimination.

5. Recruitment of Ex-Offenders

In line with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, Vensa Technology assesses applicants on their individual merit. Having a criminal record will not necessarily bar an individual from working with us or our clients, unless the nature of the position renders them unsuitable.

6. Monitoring and Review

To ensure this policy is effective, we may periodically monitor the diversity of our candidate pool and internal workforce. This data is used strictly for improvement purposes, is kept confidential, and is processed in accordance with the UK GDPR.

7. Complaints

If any candidate or employee believes they have been subject to discrimination under this policy, they should contact the management team at info@vensatechnology.com. All complaints will be investigated thoroughly and confidentially.
